Pastor's Blog: While I Am Away
|
We’re enjoying a week down at Navarre Beach with our family. Our daughter lives here, where she’s a high school English teacher, and our son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren have come over from Tallahassee, where he is preparing for his new position as a general surgeon at Capital Regional Medical Center. Judy loves the beach and I love golf, and there is plenty of both for us to take in.
While I’m away this Sunday, I’m happy that you will have the chance to hear Ronnie Brewer, who is the soon-to-be Interim Pastor at First Baptist Church of Aiken, South Carolina. Ronnie is no stranger to Mountain Brook Baptist Church, having served some years ago as the Coordinator of Alabama CBF. In his role with that mission partner of MBBC he was in our church quite frequently. Ronnie is an excellent preacher, and you will be encouraged by his message. He plans to offer a sermon that fits the summer sermon series on “Questions God Asks.”
I’ll be back the following Sunday as we begin gearing up for the fall. There are many good things in store for us in the days ahead and I am confident we’ll see even more good things coming our way. Thanks for all your faithfulness, and for being present this Sunday to hear my good friend Ronnie Brewer.
“I long to see you so that I might impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong” (Romans 1:11).
