Pastor's Blog: Gearing Up for a Fantastic Fall

 |

I trust this summer has gone as well for you as you could have hoped. I’m certainly pleased with how things have played out at MBBC. We were able to enjoy so many important ministry activities over these past couple of months in a more normal way than last summer, and our worship attendance has perhaps been even stronger than in some summers pre-COVID. All these signs point to a most promising fall, as everyone returns to a more routine schedule.

Of course, the emergence of more transmissible COVID variants do pose some threat to such a return. Businesses, schools, and civic gatherings are doing their best to prepare for yet another series of interruptions. You should know that your church is doing so as well. The ministerial staff has spent a good amount of time talking about how we can sustain as much ministry as possible, all the while staying true to our goal of being responsible in our efforts. Consequently, in consultation with the infectious disease specialists in our church, who advise, given the transmissibility of the Delta strain, we will return to a “Masks Required” policy in all church activities immediately. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we show our commitment to living “with grace and generosity” toward others in this way.

In the meantime, I’m forging ahead with a four-week sermon series I hope will pave the way for all God has in store for us in the days ahead. If we choose to believe God has something special in store for us, then there’s every reason to be confident that these adaptations for the Delta variant won’t stand in the way of that promise. So, I hope you will join us every Sunday you can, as we gear up together for what we’re counting on will be a fantastic fall. Here are the titles and texts that will guide our worship:

August 8: “Start with the Basics”
Acts 16:25-34
Big Idea: Believing in Jesus is the only place from which we can plan on experiencing the best measure of God’s favor.

August 15: “Get Rid of Excuses”
Exodus 4:10-17
Big Idea: God has an answer for every excuse we have for not doing His will.

August 22: “Lose the Clutter”
Philippians 3:2-11
Big Idea: Whatever we might need to set aside in order to pursue God’s high calling will be more than worth it in the end.

August 29: “Have a Plan”
Joshua 6:1-7
Big Idea: God loves it when His plan comes together; and so will we.
