Voices of Lee Concert on November 15, 2025

On Sunday, November 15, we'll host the Voices of Lee, a 15-member A Cappella ensemble from Lee University in Cleveland, TN. They will share special music in both services and then will have a concert at 6 p.m. that night in the Sanctuary. No registrations required; invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join us!

Since their debut in September 1994, their intense musical focus and their dedication to harmony, spirit, and performance have captivated audiences worldwide. Directed by Danny Murray, The Voices of Lee were propelled into the national spotlight on the debut season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” a competition of A Cappella groups. Out of thousands of auditions, they were selected as one of eight groups to compete and featured on four prime-time NBC network episodes. After nationwide voting, the Voices of Lee finished as the second runner-up.

The Voices of Lee have also appeared on Good Morning America, performed for Christmas at the White House, at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, and the Shanghai International Music Festival in China. They were also voted one of the favorite groups by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America and in 2018 were awarded “Favorite Collegiate Group,” “Favorite Religious Group,” and “Favorite Video” by the International A Cappella Music Awards. Most recently, their video recordings have exceeded 103 million views online.

James K.A. Smith on February 1, 2026

9 & 11 a.m. Worship Services
4 p.m. Dinner & Lecture

On Sunday, February 1, we have the honor of welcoming scholar and theologian James K.A. Smith to Mountain Brook Baptist Church.

James K.A. Smith is a renowned author and scholar who serves as professor of philosophy at Calvin University. He is the author of a number of award-winning books, including You Are What You Love and On the Road with Saint Augustine

He will preach in both services that Sunday, teach a combined adult Sunday School class, and lead a lecture in the afternoon at 4 p.m.

Dr. James K.A. Smith is an Augustine scholar and has written about how what we love shapes us. His Sunday morning sermon and teaching times would focus on this topic. In the afternoon, he would transition to talking about time. If we are what we love, and what we love shapes us, how should that influence the way we see our time as believers? He’ll also talk about what it looks like to live faithfully in this particular time and era as followers of Christ.

Following the afternoon lecture, we will enjoy dinner together in Heritage Hall.

This event is free and is sponsored by the Hull Foundation; please register if you plan to attend dinner on Sunday night so we can have an accurate count for food. Email Sharon (sharon@mbbc.org) if you need childcare for the lecture.
