Pastor's Blog: "Full Circle"
| | Dr. Wayne Splawn
This past Sunday, we celebrated Student Ministry Sunday. I cannot adequately express how proud I was of each student who participated in the day. From all reports I’ve received, others in our congregation felt the same pride and excitement while watching our students lead in worship and teach Sunday Morning Bible Study classes. I am grateful for the efforts of everyone who made the day possible.
I attended the Grace Sunday Morning Bible Study class on Sunday. This is a relatively new class for young couples in our church. As I looked around the room, I was struck by the truth that I knew many of the class members when they were in junior high and high school. In fact, Mary and I had the privilege to serve many of them as their student ministers, and the Lord has graciously led them to reconnect with our church after completing college and moving back to our area. As the class members listened and participated in the lesson being taught by the student teacher, I could envision the day when they were in those roles themselves.
I pray the Lord will continue to lead our young people back to our church when they return to our area, begin their careers, and eventually start families of their own. For this to increasingly be the norm for our students, we must be intentional to maintain relationships with them while they are away, assure them of our love and support through every season of their lives, and be the type of church that is continually keeping the next generation before us as we seek God’s will for the future of our church.
