Ministry Highlights: VBS & LifeWeek 2021

One of the busiest and most fun-filled weeks each year at Mountain Brook Baptist Church is the week of Vacation Bible School and LifeWeek. These annual events are both long-beloved programs our church offers for the children and students of our church and community.

In the mornings, preschool and school-aged children participated in Vacation Bible School. This year the more than 350 registered participants explored the theme of "Joseph's Journey". Through worship, crafts, Bible stories, recreation, snacks, and more, caring adult volunteers invited the children to learn how God worked for good in Joseph's life, even when things were hard. They also learned that God has given each of us hope and special abilities we can use for God's purposes - just like Joseph!

In the evenings, junior high and high school students participated in LifeWeek. They also explored Joseph's story, diving deeper into how God meets us in the "pits" in our lives, how God works in suffering to bring reconciliation, and what it means to live by faith even in difficult circumstances. LifeWeek of course included worship and Bible study, but also team competitions of scavenger hunts, relays, and messy games. The week was capped off with a field trip for roller skating, go-karts, and laser tag.

As a church we commit ourselves to come alongside families as they raise their children to be all God is calling them to become. Thank you to the VBS and LifeWeek volunteers who invested their lives in our children and students. And thank you to the entire MBBC family for the way your prayers and generosity make this meaningful (and exhausting) week of ministry possible!
