Meet Our New Staff Member: Micaiah Bolton

Have you met Micaiah Bolton? Micaiah joined our church on Sunday, June 25. She is also our new Associate Minister of Music! One of her primary responsibilities is leading worship for our Contemporary Worship Service. We hope you'll get to know her a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with her one Sunday in worship.

Tell us about your family. I am the oldest of four siblings. My mom is in Savannah, Georgia with my sister, the older of my brothers is in Augusta, Georgia and is in the US Army, my dad and youngest brother live in Alabaster, and I'm here in Birmingham with my fiancĂ©, Kerrig.

Where do you work? I just recently graduated from Samford with a degree in Worship Leadership, and now I work here at Mountain Brook Baptist!

What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? Wayne interviewed me for the interim contemporary worship leader position, which I was unable to do due to school, and he graciously kept my number so I could apply for the Associate Minister of Music position!

What is your favorite worship song? My favorite Bible story is in John's account of the resurrection when Jesus calls Mary Magdalene's name and she recognizes him. I think it's a beautiful story that exemplifies how God knows, sees, and loves us so intimately. Choosing just one worship song to call my favorite is so hard. At the moment, I've been frequently listening to the song "Lord, Have Mercy" by Sovereign Grace Music.

What are some of your hobbies and interests? I love to read! I'm a big fan of historical fiction, and I also love the classics like Jane Eyre and The Count of Monte Cristo. Otherwise, I'm into theatre (musical and non-musical), visual art, and movies. I'm always down to go shopping or go out for coffee, so don't hesitate to ask me!

What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? I was in marching band all through high school and college! I was a drum major for four of those eight years, and I played the mellophone (marching band version of the french horn) for the other four.
