Meet Our New Members: Mary Kane and Trey Walters
| Meet Our New Member | Mary Splawn
In this season when we are not all able to meet together in person, we want to help you get to know our newest church members. Today, meet Mary Kane and Trey Walters. Mary Kane and Trey joined by transfer of letter on August 2, 2020. They have an infant daughter, Margaret.
Tell us about your family.
We are both from Troy, Alabama and have been married for a little over three years. We joined MBBC in the summer of 2020, which seemed like a weird time to us as I am sure it did everyone else, but everyone at the MBBC was so welcoming. We have a seven-month-old named Margaret Douglas Walters who attends the ELC.
Where do you work?
Trey works at Weaver LLC and Mary Kane is a teacher at Nichols Lawson Middle School.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church?
We both grew up in Baptist churches and to get involved in a great church in the community close to where we reside. We visited MBBC and felt right at home - the members were so welcoming and friendly from the very start.
What is your favorite passage in the Bible? There are many books of the Bible that we enjoy, but if we had to pick one it would be Psalm 23:
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name's sake."
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
We enjoy cooking as a family and hanging on the back porch. We also like to take long walks around the neighborhood and stop by the park. All hobbies and interests revolve around our seven-month-old daughter Margaret!
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you?
We both grew up in Pike County, Alabama as Troy Trojans.
