Have you Karen Scott? Karen joined our church on Sunday, March 26. We hope you'll get to know her a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with her one Sunday in worship.
Tell us about your family. Our family is me and my hubby Bill Walters - Bill lives in New Jersey at the moment. He has two kids, Jake and Tammy. Tammy is in college in NYC. Jake is currently on a gap year. I have a cat named Hocus who is 18 and is Scottish like me.
Where do you work? I run the forensic toxicology lab at UAB.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? I moved to the Birmingham area last summer and did an online search for a church from New Jersey before I moved down. I liked the feel of MBBC from the website so visited on a trip here with Bill last June and have been attending ever since.
What is your favorite Bible verse and hymn/praise song? Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT version), praise song: "Great Are You Lord," hymn: "Amazing Grace"
What are some of your hobbies and interests? Reading/listening to books, hiking/walking
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? I love hippos. I danced from age three to 30.
