Meet Our New Members: The Abney Family

Have you met the Abney family? Karen, JJ, and Trey joined our church on Sunday, April 16. We hope you'll get to know them a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with them one Sunday in worship.
Tell us about your family. We have one son, Trey, who is a freshman at MBJH. JJ grew up in Gardendale and Karen grew up in a small rural town in north Alabama. Karen also served the United States Navy for 20 years and retired.
Where do you work? JJ works for Southern Company and Karen works for the U.S. Treasury.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? We felt a need a desire to be at a smaller church in our community. Trey has several friends here and was excited to be part of the Student Ministry.
What is your favorite hymn/praise song? Jeremiah 29:11 and Philippians 4:13; "God Is In This Story" and "Glorious Day"
What are some of your hobbies and interests? We love to travel, explore aviation, and watch the New Orleans Saints.
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? We were once a divided house on pets; JJ always enjoyed cats and we had a stray cat that showed up and won our hearts. We now have three sweet fur babies.
