Meet Our New Member: Matt Wilson

Have you met Sara and Matt Wilson? Matt joined our church on Sunday, May 4. They have a daughter, Ellis, and a son, Griff. We hope you'll get to know them a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with them one Sunday in worship.

Tell us about your family. My wife, Sara and I live in the Cherokee Bench community of Mountain Brook. We have two children, Ellis (4), and Griff (2). We have family nearby and in other areas of Alabama. Our kids keep us active, and we love being outdoors and enjoy picnics outside when it’s nice.

Where do you work? I’m the founder of a technology company called EquipSense, which provides smart maintenance and monitoring solutions for outdoor equipment. I also do consulting work in healthcare operations and technology.

What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? We were looking for a church community where we could grow in our faith as a family and raise our children in a strong spiritual environment. After visiting MBBC with our cousins (Walter and Krisalyn Crye) and meeting several members, we felt immediately welcomed and at home.

What is your  favorite Bible verse? Job 11:16–18: “You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope.”

What are some of your hobbies and interests? I enjoy fitness, spending time outdoors with my family, and nerding out on anything related to technology. I’m passionate about helping others find practical, tech-based solutions in everyday life.

What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? I once trained for and completed a 75-day challenge that involved two workouts a day, strict nutrition, and no shortcuts. It taught me a lot about discipline, resilience, and how much growth happens when you lean into discomfort.
