Meet Our New Member: Lara Dean

Have you met Lara Dean? Lara joined our church on Sunday, August 10. We hope you'll get to know her a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog, and that you'll have the chance to connect with her one Sunday in worship.
Where do you go to work? I am a speech-language pathologist at Brookwood Forest Elementary. I work with preschool and kindergarten-aged children.
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? I started visiting when my sister and her family began visiting. I was looking for a church home where I felt more plugged in and was able to connect with more people for community and fellowship.
What are your favorite Bible verses and favorite hymn? Picking a favorite hymn is tough! I’d say it’s probably between "It Is Well With My Soul" or "Hymn of Promise." A Bible verse that is currently resonating with me is the memory verse we are learning in 5K Sunday School where I teach. It’s Psalm 116:1- I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
What are some of your hobbies and interests? I love to be outside, to exercise, and to read. I also love to travel and enjoy spending a lot of time with my nieces and nephews.
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? I grew up in Athens, AL, and I have been living in Birmingham since 2013.
