Have you met Avery Smith? Avery joined Mountain Brook Baptist on July 28, 2024. We hope you'll get to know her a little better through this latest "Meet Our New Member" blog and that you'll have the chance to connect with her one Sunday in worship.
Tell us about your family. I grew up in Rome, Georgia, where a majority of my family lives. I have two sisters and wonderful parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Where do you work? I went to Auburn for undergrad and then to law school here at Cumberland. I just graduated and will be working at a small law firm in Homewood!
What led you to Mountain Brook Baptist Church? I was looking for a church to attend while going to school here and Mountain Brook Baptist is very similar to my church in Rome. I ended up really enjoying the service and the community it has offered since has led me to join as a member!
What is your favorite Bible passage and favorite hymn? One of my favorite Bible stories is in Luke 10 when Martha opened her home to Jesus and her sister, Mary, was sitting at his feet not worrying about anything besides listening to him. One of my favorite hymns is probably "Blessed Assurance."
What are some of your hobbies and interests? I enjoy hanging out with my friends, reading, and attempting to play golf.
What is a fun fact other people may not know about you? I drive a stick-shift car!
