Last Call for Lebanon
|
Some weeks ago, I mentioned an invitation our church received from our partners at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut, Lebanon. Their president, Elie Haddad, extended to us an opportunity to come to the campus to observe how our missions dollars translate into seminary education for churches in the Middle East, as well as for a vibrant ministry to Syrian refugees that have flooded into their country. Our Missions Committee has continued to explore the possibilities of such a trip and we have now identified a “window” of March 5-15 of 2019 for such a visit.
We have several members who have agreed to go, but before we make final plans we want to be sure that we have not left anyone out. As with so many communications of opportunities over these summer months, there is always the possibility that someone has missed out on this one. So, in order not to leave anyone out, we are extending the deadline for signing up to August 30. After then, we’ll need to nail down logistics with the precise number and names of the team members we’ll send over.
So, look at your calendars and pray about your participation. If you’re of the heart to go, please contact Barbara Morgan in my office and she will add you to the list. You can also help us by letting others who may have expressed interest in such an opportunity know about this deadline. Lastly, please pray for all of the details to fall into place so that the team we send may be prepared to represent Christ and our church to the seminary community and in turn represent them to our church. We remain committed to the important work ABTS is doing in a very strategic part of the world and how our partnership enables us to fulfill our calling to “Love God and Live with Grace and Generosity.”
“May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may people blossom in the cities” (Psalm 72:16).
