Foundation Moments: Process for Giving a Gift to the Foundation
| Foundation Moments | Baker Crow
Curious congregation members have asked me to explain the process involved in how someone makes a gift to our Foundation. If you are also curious, I am pleased to report it’s a fairly simple process.
If you are not just adding to a current fund in the Foundation, the most difficult part lies with you. You must declare the purpose of your gift. As a reminder, the Foundation’s bylaws state your gift must be consistent with the charitable purposes of the Foundation. Once you have decided your gift’s purpose, we request that you complete the Fund Creation Form which is found on the Foundation’s page on our church website. I, along with any of the Foundation’s board members, will be eager to assist you in determining the purpose of your gift and/or completing the form.
You must also decide whether your gift will be an undesignated gift or a gift designated for a particular purpose consistent with the charitable purposes of the Foundation. Your gift must be allocated to at least one of the Foundation’s four funds: Missions Fund, Facilities Fund, Compassion Fund, and General Fund. If you fail to choose a fund, the Board of Directors will determine where your gift is to be allocated.
Next month I will provide you greater detail on each of the above-referenced funds. Specific information on each of these funds is also found on the Foundation’s page on our church website.
Hopefully, you will agree the process is fairly simple, but please don’t hesitate to ask questions. Your questions help us improve our communications to our congregation about our Foundation.
