Cooks On A Mission: Ministry Updates, October Sale, Thanksgiving Cake Orders, & Pop-Up Shop Information
| Cooks On A Mission
Cooks On A Mission is excited to announce that we have a couple of new ministry partners — Red Mountain Grace and the Alabama Head Injury Foundation. Beginning this month, we are providing freezer meals for the families who live in the Red Mountain Grace apartment that MBBC sponsors. This is similar to the medical apartments which UAB has torn down. We are also providing dinner for the Alabama Head Injury Foundation, which is assisting one of the WellHouse graduates. In addition, we provided approximately $1,800 in help with tuition and books for a foster child who aged out of the foster care system. This student had earned a partial scholarship to University of South Alabama. COAM connected with this student via a former classmate of Cook Kim Hardwick.
To fund these and our other projects, we cook and freeze meals, soups, and breakfast items, and then make those items available to church members and friends for donations. Our food is available on the third Wednesday of each month. This month it will be on October 17 from 2-6:30 p.m. Our new items will include Heavenly Delight, Red Beans and Rice with Conecuh Sausage, and Buffalo Chicken Dip.
We will also be selling our Thanksgiving cakes again this year; orders are due on Wednesday, November 14 to the church office, and pickup will be on Tuesday, November 20. Stop by the church office to place your order! You can check out what we will be selling this year by visiting this link.
Finally, save the date for our annual Christmas Pop-Up Shop and Luncheon benefiting The WellHouse! The Pop-Up Shop will be on Friday, November 30 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m with a sneak peek sale on Thursday, November 29 from 4-6 p.m., and our Luncheon will be that same Friday at 11:30 a.m. Both events will take place in Heritage Hall.
