Children enrolled in S.T.A.R.S., although eligible to attend Kindergarten based on their age, are not yet ready to enter a traditional Kindergarten setting. Our goal is to provide one more year in a preschool environment to allow each child more time to become fully prepared for Kindergarten. Children must be five years old by September 1 to enroll.
Curriculum
The curriculum will work with the Mountain Brook School System and enlist the knowledge of several educational resources that will offer new and challenging academic activities. Our Bible based Wee Learn Curriculum will be used in conjunction with other well-established educational providers whose curriculum will focus on phonological awareness and handwriting as well as:
- Pre-reading
- Number skills
- Literacy
- Math
- Science
- Social studies
- We will continue to focus on developing the readiness skills required to enter Kindergarten. This will encompass many aspects of development including:
- Fine motor skills
- Listening and following directions
- Recall of a story
- Letter recognition and sounds
In addition, the children will have the opportunity to participate in chapel, music/movement, art, Spanish; several parent chaperoned field trips and extracurricular classes.
Schedule
MBB-ELC will offer S.T.A.R.S. late August-May from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Extended Full Day hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be offered for those who wish to enroll as a full day student. S.T.A.R.S. calendar will follow the Mountain Brook School System for those students enrolled in our half day program.

Tuition & Fees
S.T.A.R.S. - 9 a.m-1 p.m. $515 month (catered lunch provided)
Extended Full day - 7 a.m-6 p.m. $965 month (catered lunch provided)
*Half Day Parents can choose additional 7 a.m.-9 a.m. drop in care and/or 1 p.m.-6 p.m. drop in care for a fee of $15 per hour.
Annual Registration & Fee
- Registration: $200 (non-refundable/transferable, must accompany registration form)
- Activity Fee: $175
