Reopening the Sanctuary for Worship

We began gathering for worship again in the Sanctuary on Sunday, June 14. We have a Traditional Worship Service at 9 a.m. and a Contemporary Worship Service at 11 a.m.

To learn a little more about what to expect when you return to worship in the Sanctuary, be sure to check out this message from Dr. Dortch.

Registering for Worship and Worship Care

To allow for social distancing, we will have a limited number of spots open at our worship services each week. To attend worship in-person, please visit the link below to sign up. Be sure to register each member of your family. If any guests will be attending with you, please include their names and contact information so we can have a record of their attendance. You may also call the church office to register for worship. Parents, note that we will offer Worship Care in both services for children 2K and under; please register your children for Worship Care when you sign up for worship.

Please note that you must sign up to attend worship, so that we can make sure we have enough space to allow for social distancing each week. We will continue to livestream our services and to provide weekly Sunday Morning Bible Study videos on our Home Church page.

Sunday Morning Bible Study Update

Update on July 16: Due to the spike in COVID cases in Jefferson County, our Advisory Team has recommended that we suspend Sunday Morning Bible Study gatherings for the foreseeable future, beginning this Sunday, July 19. This suspension extends to all ages and all in-person small group gatherings in closed spaces. Going forward, we will monitor the number of COVID cases in Jefferson County each Monday and only resume SMBS gatherings when we have seen a two-week decline in cases. We will send out a churchwide notice when we have reached this threshold.

In the meantime, the Advisory Team is confident that we can continue in-person gatherings for both our traditional and contemporary worship services. The Sanctuary provides us the necessary space to manage physical distancing, along with the other CDC-recommended guidelines. We will also continue to provide childcare for both worship services for children 2K and under. Be sure to make a reservation online for worship and worship care by visiting this link.

We regret that we must make this decision. However, we need to heed the counsel of our public health officials in order to facilitate a downturn in the number of COVID cases in our community. As we have stated from the outset, our plans should be responsible, gradual, and flexible. Thank you for all you have been doing to keep ministry going through your adherence to the guidelines we have put in place. Continue to be flexible as we adapt to this fluid situation. We will continue to offer video Bible study resources for the whole family on our Home Church page.
