Maundy Thursday Service 2019
Our Maundy Thursday Service will take place on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Maundy Thursday is always a meaningful service of worship during Holy Week as we trace the last steps of Jesus on the way to the cross. The service will include the Lord’s Supper and a presentation by the Sanctuary Choir and soloists, Chris Farley and Dr. Timothy Paul Banks, of Sir John Stainer’s The Crucifixion (1887). This oratorio provides a meditation on the sacred passion story of Jesus’ last moments. The service will conclude with the haunting chant of Psalm 22 which parallels Christ’s suffering on the cross. The chant ends with “They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Afterward the congregation will exit in darkness and silence. This service will leave an intense desire for Easter Sunday morning’s glorious celebration.
