Holy Week Services at Noon
Join us for Holy Week services at noon in the chapel on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of Holy Week (March 26, 27, 28, 30). Dr. Douglas Walker, Associate Vice-President of University Advancement at Trinity International University in Chicago, will be our guest speaker at our Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday services. Like the other speakers in year’s past, Doug grew up in MBBC, felt the call to ministry in our church, and has gone on to have a significant impact for Christ in vocational ministry. Our Good Friday service will be led by staff.
Lenten Lunch will be prepared by Cooks On A Mission and will be served in Heritage Hall following the noon services for $8 per person. Here is the menu:
Monday Lunch: Chicken and Dressing, Sweet Potato Souffle, Green Beans, Roll, Lemon Pie
Tuesday Lunch: French Market Sandwiches, Spinach Strawberry Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing, Chocolate Sheet Cake
Wednesday Lunch: Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, Cheese muffin, Salad, Red Velvet Brownie
Friday Lunch: Baked Ziti, Green Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette, Roll, Cheesecake
Our Maundy Thursday Service will take place on March 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Maundy Thursday is always a meaningful service of worship during Holy Week as we trace the last steps of Jesus on the way to the cross. The service will include the Lord’s Supper and a presentation by the Sanctuary Choir and string quintet of selections from Michael Haydn’s Twelve Passion Motets (cir. 1789). Nine of the twelve motets remain and we’ll be presenting them as part of the worship. The service will conclude with the haunting chant of Psalm 22 which parallels Christ’s suffering on the cross. The chant ends with “They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Afterward the congregation will exit in darkness and silence. This service will leave you aching for Easter Sunday morning’s glorious celebration.
Easter Egg Hunts and Roger Day Concert
Join us on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. in the lower parking lot for a concert with Roger Day, egg hunts, and fun for the entire family!
Our Easter Sunday services will be held at 9 a.m. (Traditional Service) and 11 a.m. (Contemporary Service). Please note that our Contemporary Service will also meet in the Sanctuary that morning.
