Latest Projects
Here are the projects the Cooks are currently working on:
Christmas Pop Up Shop
This year's Pop-Up Shop will be Wednesday, November 20 from 1-5:30 p.m. - come shop underneath the white tent behind the White Missionary House. We will offer our usual goodies, including Oreo Truffles, Peanut Butter Balls, Rosemary Cashews, etc.) plus great gifts! Pop up shop items are first come, first served. Payment for Pop-Up Shop is via cash or check only.
Backpack Buddies and Family Food Boxes
Working in partnership with MBBC’s Missions Committee, COAM helps purchase, pack and deliver a weekly bag of food for more than 70 children at Grantswood Community School who have been identified by their school counselors as being at risk of being hungry. In addition, COAM funds, packs and delivers 150 monthly family food boxes at Oliver Elementary School. We also provide hygiene kits, coats and shoes as needed. Sign up to help deliver Backpack Buddies here.
The WellHouse
We provide meals and other supplies for the residents of this shelter, who have been rescued from human trafficking. In the past many of the ladies have been able to cook alongside us, and our mid-day lunch and prayer time with these ladies is one of our favorite times. We have been able to maintain contact and periodic support for many of those who have graduated from the program and are living independently.
First Responders Ministry
Each month we provide cakes and occasional meals as thanks and encouragement for first responders in our community, including local fire stations, police, state troopers, sheriff’s deputies and the National Guard Base.
UAB/Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Each year we provide all of the side dishes for the Thanksgiving Feast for families with infants in the NICU.
Camp Seale Harris
We sponsor two children to attend this camp for children with Type 1 Diabetes.
Red Mountain Grace
We provide freezer food for clients of two Red Mountain Grace apartments. Red Mountain Grace provides apartments around Birmingham for those in town for long-term medical treatments.
